Remedy Scientific has officially come out of stealth, armed with $11 million in seed funding. The round was led by Eclipse and supported by Refactor, Cantos, and Box Group. The startup is using automation to speed up land remediation and cut costs. Its first focus? Tackling dangerous PFAS chemicals — the so-called “forever chemicals” found at thousands of sites across the U.S.
Billions in Land Value Are Trapped by Pollution
Across the U.S., more than 450,000 brownfield sites remain conSaminated. But that figure is likely outdated. Remedy estimates over $3 trillion in land value is lost due to pollution. Current cleanup efforts are slow and expensive, often dragging on for decades. Traditional Superfund projects can take 12 to 15 years—or even longer.
Remedy wants to fix this. Its new platform uses smart sensors and algorithms to detect and destroy toxins right where they are. That means no more digging up soil or transporting hazardous waste. It’s cleaner, faster, and far more scalable.
Fighting PFAS: A Toxic and Widespread Threat
PFAS chemicals are some of the toughest to remove. They stay in the environment for decades and build up in the human body. These pollutants have already been found at nearly 9,000 sites nationwide. Remedy’s system is built to tackle PFAS from the ground up—and plans to expand to other toxins in the future.
Randol Aikin, founder and CEO of Remedy Scientific, puts it plainly: “We believe land remediation should be scalable and permanent—not just a temporary patch. Our technology restores land and improves its value, making redevelopment possible while protecting public health.”
- A Smarter, Scalable Alternative to Traditional Cleanup
What sets Remedy apart is its tech-driven model. Instead of treating every site as a unique project, it offers a standardized product. This allows them to deploy solutions faster and handle a variety of site conditions. It’s also a crucial step forward as nearly half the existing remediation workforce is set to retire within five years.
And that workforce shortage isn’t the only challenge. With demand for usable land rising and stricter environmental rules kicking in, cleanup needs to happen faster than ever. That’s where automation steps in—helping solve the scale problem.
Why Investors Are Betting on Remediation Tech
“Land remediation is more than just an environmental issue—it’s an industrial bottleneck,” said Lior Susan, founding partner at Eclipse. “Remedy’s technology addresses a huge economic opportunity and delivers results that matter to businesses, governments, and communities.”
Remedy has already partnered with federal agencies and private developers to launch pilot projects. These focus on high-priority sites tied to infrastructure, defense, and industry. By shifting from custom projects to repeatable products, Remedy offers a new path forward for large-scale environmental recovery.
