Salesforce just took a major leap in enterprise AI. It’s moving away from one-size-fits-all assistants and introducing Agentforce in Slack—a new wave of task-focused digital teammates designed to work like real colleagues.

Unlike traditional bots that simply answer questions, these AI teammates handle real work. They search Slack chats, pull company data, and trigger actions—all inside the tool your team already uses every day.

Why AI Teammates Beat General Assistants

Most companies began with generic AI tools. These “do-it-all” bots promised a lot but often struggled with complex tasks. Salesforce now believes the future lies in specialized AI agents.

“Think of them like real teammates,” said Rob Seaman, Slack’s Chief Product Officer. “Each one brings a specific skill and works together with others to solve real problems.”

John Kucera, SVP of Salesforce AI, added that Agentforce agents don’t just talk. They reason, act, and adapt. They can complete multi-step processes, work across systems, and respond with business-appropriate logic.

Fast Results With Pre-Built Templates

To speed things up, Salesforce is launching Slack Employee Agent Templates on June 12. These ready-to-use setups cover common workflows—like pulling CRM data, onboarding new hires, or answering HR and IT questions.

Instead of weeks of setup, teams can get results fast. These agents tap into Slack Enterprise Search and understand ongoing conversations using Slack Topics. That means responses feel natural and are grounded in real-time team chatter.

It’s already making an impact. Formula 1 saw faster fan support replies, with 95% of issues resolved on the first try. OpenTable used Agentforce to handle 73% of queries in just three weeks. And Salesforce itself saved over 17,000 hours using its internal Engineering Agent—equal to 8 full-time roles.

Slack’s Secret Weapon: Conversation Context

With Agentforce, Salesforce is taking on Microsoft’s Copilot and Google’s Gemini. Each tech giant has its own strength—Microsoft has 365, Google has Workspace, and Salesforce has Slack.

Why is that powerful? Because Slack is where work conversations live. Every chat, file, and app interaction becomes a source of context. That gives Agentforce an edge. It can understand what your team is doing and respond with precision.

To help adoption, Salesforce is offering free Identity licenses. So even employees who don’t use Salesforce can interact with the agents directly in Slack.

Designed to Help, Not Replace

Salesforce made one thing clear: these AI teammates are here to support people—not replace them. They handle time-consuming tasks so humans can focus on higher-level thinking and creative problem-solving.

Instead of switching between apps or digging through systems, workers just tell the agent what they need. The agent handles the steps in the background, connecting apps and pulling data.

This mirrors how companies already work. People specialize. So should AI. By focusing each agent on one task, Agentforce avoids confusion and delivers more reliable results.

As Seaman put it, “Slack is the natural home for these agents. It carries a company’s knowledge, culture, and customer data.”
